((This is open to anyone))
Taw had awoken early this morning for no reason. So she slipped out of her bed and then out of the candidate barracks altogether. She gasped for a moment when the crisp morning air kissed her skin, but she then set out to the kitchen so see if the chore list was up and sure enough S'nar had either set it up the night before or had awaken before her. She glanced around the empty cavern, grabbed a sweet roll, and then made her way to the hatching sands. Her chore that day was to clean and rake the sands, as was all the candidates'. She began by walking around the outside edge picking up rocks and other items that didn't belong. After her first trip she stopped to look at the sands, bu the longer she stood the hotter it got and the more the dreaded this task. She stood for a few moments longer to see if anyone else would join her...

Anton stepped out of the lower caverns and streached out his long fame. It had been a long night. One of the blue riders had folled down from one of the ledges and landed on his side. The long upper arm bone had broken badly, compound fracture. It was obvious what he had been doing that night. His arms, from the elbows to his fingertips, were stained red from the redwort he used to disinfect his arms. In the dawn light, Anton was shocked to see a figure leaving the baracks. He wasn't sure what she was doing until he saw where she was headed. The list that S'nar had placed up of cantidate chores seemed to be her destination. As she scuttled off, he found himself sauntering over, might as well get the job done while he had time. THat was one bad thing about being the weyr's healer and a cantidate. You had twice the duties and his healing duties never were too predictable. Ah, the hatching grounds. That was ok, he liked the heat, and it would probably be a good idea for them all to get use to the space. The eggs would soon be laid. Anton was surprised at how much the other cantidate had gotten done. Taw, he thought was her name. He smiled and started in helping, hoping that the sand might help get rid of the redwort stains.
