Character Name: Lidi
Age: 16 Turns
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Candidate
Craft Specialty: Harper
Residence: Benden Weyr
Appearance: Lidi has rather short dirty blonde hair and dark green eyes. Her hair tangles easily, and she has long bangs that get in the way of her eyes sometimes. She has no long lasting or permanent scars on her body, although she does get scratches, it generally isn’t very serious. Lidi is small for her age. She has never grown very fast and often seems to be a few Turns younger than she actually is. While she was a young child, it was worse, and people always seem to think of her as younger because she was smaller. Lidi was always just as smart as anyone else her age, though.
Lidi likes to wear sandals most of the time. They are her favorite footwear. She doesn’t care too much about the color or type of her clothes. As long as she is wearing something comfortable, Lidi is good. Comfortable to her usually means something not to thick and not to long on hot days, and not to thin and not to short on cold days. All the days in between, she will wear anything.
Her body is slightly slim, but not to much. She is very healthy and doesn’t usually get a very bad sickness. Usually it is just a cold or a fever, nothing worse than that. She likes to stay active and completely hates to be cooped up inside. Sometimes, Lidi will just enjoy a nice walk around. Sitting for to long bores her, but there are a few things she would do it for.
Personality: Lidi has a strong spirit. She doesn’t like others bossing her around; she wants to make her own decisions. Lidi doesn’t let what others think influence her life. She chooses her own path, even if it is against what others think. She isn’t always rebellious, she knows when to be obedient, but she also knows when she doesn’t like something. Lidi prefers to choose what she thinks is best for her and others; however she will listen to what others have to say before making her decision. Lidi hates irrational decisions.
Lidi has a good memory. She can remember things easily and quickly and generally doesn’t forget a lot. The things she tends to forget are things that aren’t all too important. When she does have trouble memorizing things, she works until she can remember it. She doesn’t flaunt her ability to memorize or her other abilities. She actually prefers to keep what she can do to herself until she knows someone better.
Dragons have always fascinated Lidi. Lidi wants to do her best to Impress a dragon so she can have a friend she knows she can always trust. She doesn’t care what kind of dragon it is, for Lidi has never been picky. Does Lidi want to Impress to a Gold dragon? Yes but, lets’ face it, there are plenty of other Candidates that are just as good as her for it. Lidi knows this, but she would still rather go through 5 Hatchings and then Impress a Gold than Impress to a Green.
Sometimes Lidi can be quite clumsy. If she slips or falls, she doesn’t let her embarrassment show. She simply picks herself up. She tries to be careful, but in rough terrain, she tends to slip at least once. She always pays attention to wear she is going, because she’ll probably fall if she doesn’t.
Lidi doesn’t like letting her feelings show. She doesn’t like getting angry either, and tries to keep herself calm. Sometimes, she can get irrationally angry, and she tries not to take it out on others when it does happen. She knows how to get herself calm, but occasionally she just doesn’t care. Lidi isn’t the kind to immediately storm off to raid a Hold or something. She would want to take some kind of action, but violence isn’t the first thing, after a bit of unsuccess though, Lidi would give into her violent side.
Lidi isn’t a talker. She prefers to keep silent and watch rather than blabber away. She figures you can learn more by listening than asking questions, and it usually works for her. She doesn’t like being around people that talk about nonsense all day. She prefers being around quiet, shy people that don’t say much. Lidi may not be shy, but she is quiet.
She usually won't boss other people around, especially because she doesn't talk to much, but Lidi will take matters into her own hands if no one else is going to do it. If she was stuck somewhere with some other people who had no idea what to do, Lidi would eventually rally them up and tell them what to do. When she really wants to get attention, Lidi can be a strong speaker. Lidi can hold some grudges for a long time. If someone gets her really mad, it can be a while before she trusts them again. It doesn’t always happen, but sometimes she feels someone isn’t good to trust. Either that or they get her really mad.
Lidi doesn’t trust others easily at all. She watches others to see how they act, then decides if she could ever trust them at all. Sometimes she assumes wrong, but she still listens to herself. If you do gain her trust, she will tell you a lot of things she doesn’t say to anyone else. Due to the amount of time it takes Lidi to trust someone, she doesn’t have a lot of friends. This has never bothered her, as she likes having alone time. Lidi likes spending time alone, and when she gets tired of the lonesomeness, she can go and listen to others, or just be around them.
With an eye for detail, Lidi prides herself on how well she notices the little things that other people would overlook. The insignificant details are the best parts to Lidi, not the things everyone can clearly see. It is always fun for her to get a good look at things after giving them a brief sweep to see what she missed.
History: In general, Lidi hates to talk about her past to other people. It isn’t as though she had a bad life, she just feels it isn’t other peoples business. If you do manage to get her to tell you, it won’t be anything to remarkable. She was born in Benden Hold and grew up in Ruatha. She had three siblings, and was the only one among them that had no memory of life in Benden Hold. Sometimes this made her feel different, but as she got older, Lidi didn’t let it bother her.
About the time she turned 8 Turns old, her father Lidean was going to be a Masterfarmer soon, and was hoping to get Lidi to take the same path. Farming didn’t interest Lidi at all, and she instead decided to follow the path of a Harper. Music had always interested Lidi. She did not get very far in this craft though, because she did not actually decide to join as a Harper until she was 15 Turns, and the next Turn when she turned 16 she was Searched as a Candidate. Lidi agreed to go to the Weyr.
Lidi was actually glad to go, not because she hated to Hold or anything, but because dragons held more interest for her that anything else. Maybe she could have become a Masterharper one day, but Lidi didn’t care. If there was one thing she wanted, it was to be a Candidate. She always hopes the clutch will have a Queen egg to give her a chance to live her real dream.
Of course, Lidi knows how easily dreams can be shattered. She finds nothing wrong in wanting to Impress to a Gold, but also reminds herself that there are others that want the same thing. She is split two ways and feels differently at different times. Sometimes, she is rather indifferent, knowing that the dragon chooses best, but at other times, she has only feverish longing for what she wants.
Upon getting the Weyr, Lidi was at first amazed, having never seen anything like it before. She quickly adjusted to Weyr life, but has never gotten over her envy of those already Impressed, that don’t have to worry about Impressing because they already have. Lidi things it would be nice to get the Hatching over some of the time. When she thinks about what the results could be, she sometimes is glad she has to wait a while. Only once has she wished the Hatching would never come.

Sample Post: There was a very nice view of the Weyrbowl around her before it all became a blur. Lidi fell to the ground, and picked herself up quickly, rubbing her bruised knee. If she had been paying more attention, she would have noticed that rock before she tripped on it. Lidi was so used to falling it seemed as though she skin was rougher and might better withstand every fall she ever had. The pain was starting to subside, Lidi checked her hands, making sure they weren’t bleeding. They weren’t, so she got up and continued her walk.
This was the best time to be out and about for her. It wasn’t to hot or two cold, but just perfect. The sky had only a few wispy clouds about it, so it wasn’t going to rain anytime soon. Lidi was sure this was the real reason for life, just feeling how great the outdoors can feel when you bother to pay attention to it. Lidi closed her eyes and tried to absorb the entire feel of the Weyrbowl. She could feel heat on her body, but not so it was very uncomfortable. It would be Winter soon enough, but until then, Lidi could simply enjoy the splendor of the day. Fall and Spring were, without a doubt, the best seasons. They were the only ones where everything ever seemed to balance out. Only then was the temperature prefect instead of to hot or to cold.
Lidi wasn’t sure if she liked Spring or Fall better. She though it might be Fall because of how the trees looked with different colors of leaves before they fell to the ground, And when the did, it was fun to look at all the different leaves. Most people seemed to like Spring because of the new life. Fall was just as nice though, it was very beautiful at the right time.
She opened her eyes again, looking around the Weyrbowl. It was the right time of day too. The sun would move to the middle of the sky soon enough, and then it would get hotter, and this perfect moment would be ruined. Until then, Lidi didn’t plan on leaving the Weyrbowl. The entire place was ablaze with the colors of autumn and the change that was brought with it. Lidi heard the noises of everyday that she did not always ignore. Right now, she was to interested in the world around her to pay attention to the other everyday happenings. There were to many people that let the world pass them by without getting a good look.
The breeze softly ruffled the trees, and leaves swirled around in the air before landing gently on the ground. Lidi watched with fascination before moving on. She could feel the earth beneath her sandals, and how rough it was most of the time. There was little smooth area she could walk on. If it rained, the ground might smooth out a bit, but it wasn’t going to rain anytime soon.
Lidi looked around as she walked, forgetting to pay attention to where she walked. She tripped once again, but this time managed to catch herself before falling. Lidi was slightly angry with herself, as she didn’t like falling. It seemed to disturb the serenity that she felt surrounded her when she felt this way. In a way it did by changing her mood. Nothing was going to stop her from enjoying the perfect of the day, not even her own clumsiness. This was her resolve, and Lidi was going to keep to unlike the other resolves that sometimes went into her head.
Her bruised knee throbbed, but Lidi ignored it, feeling anger once again flare up inside of her. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to get rid of her feelings. After a moment, she succeeded and looked around the Weyrbowl once again. There was still that sinking feeling inside of her that Fall would end and Winter would come. Still, everything ended at some point. There was nothing that lasted forever.
